Today is the 8th Annual Conch Festival in Turks and Caicos -so having spent all morning tied to my computer editing I went along a few hours ago to check things out.
It was great to see so many familiar faces from the local restaurants, as well as other residents and locals from Turks and Caicos. Great atmosphere with David Bowen leading everyone along with conch blowing and introducing them to “ripsaw” music…
First stop – the conch wonton’s of Bay Bistro. Mike out back was having a blast!.
Clive (Bay Bistro and Kissing Fish) was in the thick of it as people lined up for his fresh conch salad – coconut guy out back was fun too!
Dinner and a show !!
Dancing in the street!
Grace Bay Club were also doing a brisk business..
Danny Buoy’s too!
Regent Palms had a whole team in play..
Conch and ice cream!
Nothing like showing up in your t-shirt from 2004′s festival to show the love!
David demonstrates the correct technique for conch blowing..
The Grand Turk Band “Salt Pond Boys” (did i get that right??) were awesome…got everyone going..
David joined in to show how to do some traditional dances to the traditional ripsaw music..
It’s still going on right now – so check it out !!
