The event was multi-day and involved visits to various resorts, including Parrot Cay and a one-to-one travel fair where individual hotels could meet with these important partners.

We covered the conference where quick 12 min talks from several travel companies covered recent trends in travel to TCI. The over whelming report was that 2011 was a banner year for TCI with travel returning close to pre-downturn levels and 2012 looking even stronger.

With presentations from Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, Jetblue and US Airways amongst many others, this was a great group to listen to.

This is the sort of image we get requested to do on a regular basis. Couples pictures as the winners and spouses arrive for the final gala dinner which is then rushed back to the studio to be printed out as a 4×6 or 5×7 print and framed for delivery that night or the following day.

It’s OK – but it’s really a bit 1980s….

Given that the whole trip is about awarding and recognizing your top people – we feel you really want to make it a special event and give them something they value. We can do better than a 5×7 in a frame.  Let’s be honest the pictures they show co-workers when they get home are not that 5×7, but the ones from the volleyball, the para sailing, the beach BBQ that they took with their own smartphone.

If you are going to hire a professional photographer to help capture this event with your top people, then use those professionals to capture moments that matter. Images that your team and staff will value, moments they themselves want to share.  Let’s showcase the fun and excitement that they are having.

Our skill is the ability to work quietly and quickly in a professional manner and put people a ease whilst capturing keys moments of the trip that they will love to have and share with co-workers, family and friends back home.

So think bigger than the 5×7 let’s talk multievents, let’s talk books that tell a story to give to them, let’s talk online films they can share around the global organisation.

Finally another suggestion – those awards at the end of the gala evening?? Cut the photos out – its will speed the evening up – but then ask the winners to come by the reception point the following day in business casual. We can then capture them with natural sunlight with a lovely tropical backdrop and take a little longer to make sure they look great, rather than a quick grab shot as winner after winner get to the stage. Generic ballroom or lush tropical gardens??

We had a great guy called Joe Simon from The Delivery Men help us not just technically with new equipment suggestions and ideas, but also on shot composition, angles, sequences and story telling. A full on 24/7 masterclass of awesomeness !! Hands on experience  that we’ve already started to put into practice.

A great gathering that saw four races including the first ever “ladies race”, some delicious local food catered by the local church and cafes and funding to make it all happen from Islandcom. A great day out!

The event was a low key, relaxed, pull up a deck chair or layout a towel type event. Everyone chatted with everyone else and checked out competitor’s boats and tactics. The wise old men discussed the shifting, almost non existent wind, whilst the kids fought to see who could stay aboard the two paddle boards Big Blue had brought along to help set out the course.

No opening speeches, no fanfare, a tug of war competition between races was about as “frantic” as things got. Simply a great day out on a beach that is as unspoilt as it was 200 years ago..

As always David Bowen was on hand to “compere” the event, announce races and keep things flowing…

With parades, local vendors selling crafts, delicious food stands, music both DJ and local bands, cultural demonstrations and competitions it was a great afternoon and evening.

It was great to see so many familiar faces from the local restaurants, as well as other residents and locals from Turks and Caicos. Great atmosphere with David Bowen leading everyone along with conch blowing and introducing them to “ripsaw” music…

First stop – the conch wonton’s of Bay Bistro. Mike out back was having a blast!.

Clive (Bay Bistro and Kissing Fish) was in the thick of it as people lined up for his fresh conch salad  – coconut guy out back was fun too!

Well – they make there own Pasta – on site – everyday. they have fresh fish – everyday and desserts that are delicious! Enjoy! The shots will be used on their website, new brochures and in several magazines.

With the amazing help from the very talented Stacie for styling we were given a complete “carte blanche” by Ron to capture the spirit and essence of this unique property.

We wanted to make a short video that had a fun message that wasn’t the normal “run of the mill” travel channel type piece.

Inspired in part by the Coleman’s camping TV ad of a couple of year’s back, we developed our own spin on “social media”.
